Privacy policy
Effective 5 October 2026. This policy explains what AEOMCP LLC ("Design Shot", "we") collects when you use the Design Shot Mac app, our website and our online service, and what we do with it.
The short version
- Your recordings, videos and screenshots stay on your Mac. We never save them on our servers.
- While you review, small still frames and the words you say are processed in memory to write your change requests, then dropped.
- Our AI providers keep zero data and never train on it.
- The only exception is a problem report you choose to send us. We keep it for 30 days to fix the issue, then delete it.
- We don't sell your data, and we don't use advertising trackers.
What stays on your Mac
Your recordings, the annotated video, full-quality frames, clips and saved reviews are stored only on your Mac, in your Documents folder. We never receive your video. You can delete any of it in the app or in Finder.
What our servers process, and for how long
While you record, the app sends small still frames (about 768 pixels wide), the text of what you say, and events such as clicks and the app or page you're on, so the AI can place and word your marks. These are held in memory only. They are never written to disk or to our logs, and they are discarded when the review finishes or after about ten minutes of inactivity.
Speech-to-text: while you record, your Mac streams your voice through our server to our speech provider, so we can count your minutes. The audio passes through in memory and is never stored. Our speech providers are set to keep no audio or transcripts.
The AI that writes your change requests is Google Gemini through Vertex AI. Google does not use your data to train its models, and we've asked Google not to log requests for abuse monitoring.
Information we keep
- Account: your email address, your name if you provide it, your team and your role. Sign-in is handled by WorkOS, by email link or with Google. We never see your Google password.
- Billing: your plan, invoices and payment status. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- Usage: the minutes you use, and content-free operational data: timings, token counts, costs, error codes and app and macOS versions. It contains no frames, words or transcripts.
- Device: a random identifier for your Mac, stored as a one-way hash, so we can limit trials to one per device and keep your devices signed in.
- Support: anything you send us by email.
Problem reports
If you click Report a problem, or turn on Share diagnostics (off by default) and an error happens, the app sends a bundle for that recording: the frames it sent, the word-timed transcript, the AI requests and responses, the event log, and the app and model versions. Report a problem shows you what will be sent first. With Share diagnostics on, a bundle after an error is sent automatically, without a preview. We use bundles only to fix problems. They are stored encrypted, deleted after 30 days, and deleted at once if you ask.
macOS permissions
Design Shot asks for Screen Recording, Microphone and Accessibility access. It uses them only while you are recording a review: to capture the window you chose, hear what you say, and know which element you pointed at. You can turn these permissions off at any time in System Settings.
How we use information
We use it to provide and secure the service, process payments, count minutes, send account and billing emails, answer support requests, prevent abuse (for example, more than one trial per device), and improve reliability using content-free metrics. We rely on our contract with you, our legitimate interest in running a secure and reliable service, and, for Share diagnostics, your consent.
Who processes data for us
Google Cloud (hosting, and Gemini through Vertex AI, which does not train on your data), Soniox, Deepgram and Groq (speech-to-text, with retention turned off), Stripe (payments; we never see your card), WorkOS (sign-in and email), OpenAI (ChatGPT, only if you connect Design Shot to it: the text and screenshots passed between ChatGPT and the app through our relay), Anthropic (Claude, only through tools you connect yourself, under Anthropic's terms) and Google Fonts (this website's typefaces). Each processes data only to provide its part of the service, under its own terms and a data processing agreement where offered.
When you send a review to Claude, ChatGPT or another AI tool, that tool's own terms and privacy policy apply to what you send it.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies: to keep you signed in to your account page and to protect forms from cross-site requests. This website sets no cookies of its own. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Where data is processed
Our servers are in the United States. Some providers may process data in other countries. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep things
- Frames, words and events from a review: in memory only, discarded when the review ends.
- Problem reports: 30 days.
- Content-free operational metrics: up to 400 days.
- Account and billing records: while your account is open, then as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, or object to or restrict how we use it. Email privacy@designshot.ai and we'll respond within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for asking. California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA. If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit, data at rest is encrypted, access is limited to the people who need it, and secrets are kept in a managed secret store. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we'll tell you as the law requires.
Children
Design Shot is not for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we make a material change to this policy, we'll email you before it takes effect and update the date above.
